When the expression and creativity meet the fantasy of little children

 

This is the first partnership program in which we took part. Its goal was the comprehensive development of young children. The youngest ones expanded their social skills through the stimulation of imagination and creativity. They learned about the culture and history of partner countries, learned about tolerance and discovered their European identities.

 

Teachers who took part in the project  had an opportunity to broaden their workshop based on experiences of their friends from eight different partner countries- Greece, Italy, Portugal, Bulgaria, Turkey, England, Northern Ireland and Estonia. The result of this cooperation is the modernization of teaching methods used in our school and the enrichment of our teacher’s own programs.

Comenius  2011 - 2013

Financial Education in Schools and Kindergratens

 

The second European project was directed towards children ages 4-12. It’s goal was to raise financial awareness in children, with particular consideration of:

• Planning expenses,

• Investing,

as well as shaping financial knowledge in partner countries.

 

Throughout the duration of the program, we cooperated with partner schools from: Bulgaria, Estonia, Greece, Italy, Northern Ireland, Poland, Spain, Turkey and England.

 

Our project was multilingual and multidimensional. The main language of the program was English, but a large part of the materials prepared by our partners were bilingual- meaning English-Italian/Greek/Turkish/Bulgarian/Estonian/Spanish/Portuguese/Polish. The Polish part of the project (Od Grosika do Złotówki-cooperation with Kronenberg Foundation) was conducted in Polish.

We began the realization of the project in September 2011 (we finished the project in September 2013), however parts of the project are realized this school year (Od Grosika do Złotówki) and will continue to be realized in the school year 2014/2015.

Project goals:

• Developing understanding skills, competencies and financial responsibility

• Familiarity with currencies used in different European countries

• The history of money

• Understanding the need of using bills and coins to buy products

• Learning about possible sources of acquiring money

• Developing awareness of the need of earning money

• Learning about purposes for which money is used

• Learning vocabulary in order to engage in conversation about shopping, money and banks

• Understanding the need of spending money on everyday expenses

• Understanding that we have to pay for what we buy

• The worth of money and the transformation of work into money

• Learning about the differences in standards of living in different  European countries

• Understanding the need to save in order to satisfy your needs

• Recognizing the difference between needs and wants

• Shaping behaviors as a consumer conscious of his rights and responsibilities 

• Teaching responsibility for our own choices as consumers

• Developing mathematical skills through buying processes, counting money etc.

• Developing artistic talents by doing different projects (piggy banks, coin models, credit cards and ATM machines)

• Expanding vocabulary and speaking skills about financial topics

• Learning about cultures, customs, basic expressions, currency, typical food products of countries participating in the project

• Comparing prices of basic products and wages in European countries converted to Euro and British pounds.
